REFLECTION: Today we celebrate New Year’s Day, but also the Feast of Mary, the Mother of God, and the World Day of Peace. We begin the New Year with hope. It is filled with possibilities. Today we hear the words of blessing spoken by God to Moses. Let us unite with Mary and celebrate and join with her in great hope for the blessings of this New Year.
PRAYER: Loving God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, You have made Mary the Mother of Your Son, Jesus. In the name of Mary, we proclaim your glory. In the name of Jesus, our Savior, we rejoice in the gift of your Spirit, and we bless your name, forever and ever. Amen.
Monday: Pray the Joyful Mysteries (click here for video) of the Rosary today for children and for Catholic education in our countries.
Tuesday: Pray to Jesus throughout the day—short prayers, such as Jesus, we love You!
Wednesday: With the family tonight, reflect on the names in your family, where they originated, and what they mean.
Thursday: Pray for all babies born today. Pray the Luminous Mysteries (click here for video) with your family or with a friend.
Friday: Continue today with your Christmas, New Year’s celebration. Prepare a special family breakfast. Pray for World Peace.
Saturday: Talk about the Epiphany. Read the story to the children about the kings coming to Bethlehem. Use the figures from the crèche to illustrate.
PRAYER: May God bless you and keep you. May God’s face shine on you. May God be kind to you and give you peace.
