“I came from the Father and have come into the world. Now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.” John 16:28
Lord God, heavenly Father, you Son Jesus Christ came into the world for a short time to reveal your loving plan for us. During these days before Pentecost, we need your help to strengthen our trust and confidence in you. The Church your Son founded is His body still living and breathing in our world. She is our mother and the source of all grace and love. She has been attacked from within and without by sinful men. Some have been priests and consecrated servants who have fallen into sin and harmed the innocent. Our Church is wounded and is still under attack.
Help us who love her to find healing for the wounded and forgiveness for the guilty. Let the Coming Pentecost renew the Church with the Fire and love of the Spirit and renew our own hearts and minds so that we can bring good news to all creatures. We pray through Christ our Risen and Ascended Lord. Amen.
