During daily life, parishes are a great central resource to provide Rosaries, teach the Rosary, and encourage Rosary prayer in families.

  • Parishes can issue certificates for families to keep when they return signed prayer commitment cards to the parishes.
  • There may already be a daily Rosary group in your parish. Contact them and get involved, and help spread the word.
  • Display Mysteries of the Rosary images around the parish center. Similar to the Stations of the Cross, this offers a visual reminder of how God leads us to Himself.
  • Make Rosaries available: Order Free Rosaries and place them in baskets at all entrances.

At Organizational Gatherings

In addition to providing a social outlet, parish organizations can incorporate Rosary prayer into meetings and events.  They have opportunities to meditate on the mysteries of the Rosary or make Rosaries as a service to others.  Holy Cross Family Ministries offers Retreats, Workshops, Parish Missions, and speakers (link to retreat info) to help in these efforts.  Make the Rosary an active element of Youth Ministry Groups, Women’s Guilds, Men’s groups, i.e. Knights of Columbus, adult faith formation workshops, and prayer groups.

At Special Events

Hold a Rosary special event that can correspond to Marian Feast Days, milestones of the parish, or in response to particular prayer needs. Involve different groups.

Take a Twilight Rosary Walk guided by candlelight.  Battery-powered candles are fine!

Make a family event, with music and various leaders of prayer.  Try making a living Rosary with parishioners as beads. (Include pictures of HCFM living Rosaries)

It is important to use the Rosary as a tool of thanksgiving and guidance in daily life, in moments of joy or struggle.

  • Distribute, teach and pray the Rosary in preparation for the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, and Marriage.
  • Bring the comfort of the Rosary as part of a Prayer Shawl Ministry, St. Vincent de Paul assistance or when visiting the homebound, especially as a Eucharistic Minister.
  • Make or provide Rosaries for parishioners and those in nursing homes, hospitals, the military, and prisons.
