In 2011, Family Rosary Philippines celebrated their 60th Anniversary.
Part of the celebration was establishing new Family Rosary Crusase Units. A Crusade Unit is a local group that support our ministry and bring families together to pray the Rosary. The groundwork for the establishment of a new unit began on December 9, 2011, when Father Roque D’Costa, CSC, Nonoy Diaz (Core group rep.) and Teresita (Tess) Alonzo (Staff) went to visit St. Vincent Ferrer Parish in Dupax del Sur, Nueva Vizcaya, (Bayombong Diocese) upon the invitation of its Parish Priest, Fr. Restituto Valdez (Resty) and Dra. Virginia Laccay of the Parish Pastoral Council.
The Officers and Members of the different parish organizations, including the teachers of the parochial school, around 60 of them, gathered at the church for the orientation meeting. The meeting
opened with a video of our founder, Servant of Father Patrick Peyton, CSC, followed by Father Roque expounding on Father Peyton’s life and mission to promote the devotion and the importance of Family Rosary. Nonoy, the present Coordinator in the Parish of Mary the Immaculate Conception in Quezon City, gave insights on the ministry and its activities in their parish.
Tess went on to discuss the Father Peyton Guild and the TV programs of the of the Philippine office. The participants were given Father Peyton prayer cards and Rosaries.
They decided to begin all their meetings with the praying of the Rosary and also to pray the Rosary before every Mass. In fact, the group the session with Rosary prayer.
It was agreed that Dra. Laccay, who was appointed by the parish priest to head the unit in the parish, will coordinate with the different officers of the organizations and the Block leaders for succeeding meetings. There was a lot of enthusiasm and excitement among the members. The Chancellor of the Diocese on hearing about it, has requested Family Rosary to address all the priests of the diocese so that all the parishes can have units.
The commissioning/oath-taking in St. Vincent parish will be held sometime next year, as soon as the officers and members are ready with their plan of action.
