*¡"Vente de Pinta"! ("Let's Paint")*
A unique program is underway as a joint project of Family Rosary - Mexico and Youth Ministry in the deanery of Ciudad Guadalupe, Nuevo León, México - Wall Art. To combat graffiti in the neighborhoods and to share messages of hope and faith, homeowners grant the youth permission to paint the walls outside their properties. The teens draw images and messages on the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Rosary and other family faith messages.
This year young people of all the parishes of the deanery (9 parishes) in Ciudad Guadalupe (Monterrey) participated as well as teens from the CAVIDA center, a ministry that works with "street youth," to complete 35 wall paintings.
The campaign, "¡Vente de pinta!" began at the anniversary Mass commemorating the death of Servant of God Father Patrick Peyton, CSC, held on June 2, and the project was completed on August 12 with a celebration with the youth and a Mass presided by Father Julián López, the priest who heads up Youth Ministry in the deanery.
*A Mission in Michoacán*
During the month of August, Karina Bermea of the Family Rosary - Mexico office joined a group from the neighboring city of Saltillo, Coahuila, to conduct a Mission in the town of San Juan Nuevo in the state of Michoacán. Many rural people from this town hand-make the wooden Rosaries that are distributed to tens of thousands of people throughout Mexico. The Mission was an opportunity to share with these dedicated Rosary makers the vast scope of their work and to thank them for their efforts. The Mission also touched on the themes of: the meaning of the "Our Father" and the "Hail Mary," God is Love, Mary is Love, and the value of prayer. Participants also learned about the apostolate of the people from Saltillo who visit and attend the sick and their families. While in San Juan Nuevo, some of the missionaries, adults, young people and children, also visited the sick members of the local community.
*The Archdiocesan Campaign Family Prayer*
As part of its participation in the Universal FORUM of the Cultures, which takes place in Monterrey, Mexico, between September and December of 2007, and during the Week of the Encounter of World Religions, the Catholic Church is organizing a significant Rosary prayer event in the giant Monterrey Arena on Saturday, September 22 from 4 to 6 p.m., for the third year in a row.
Family Rosary - Mexico is an organizer of the event, whose official theme is "A World at Prayer is a World at Peace®."
