Father John Phalen, CSC, President of Holy Cross Family Ministries, Reaching out to Local Prayer Groups

In addition to recent retreats given in Brazil, Chile and Bangladesh, Father John Phalen, CSC, celebrated a Mass this week for approximately 50 members of a men's prayer group at *Sacred Heart Parish* in *Quincy, Massachusetts*. Invited by Kevin Murphy of the Cursillo community of the Holy Cross Retreat House, Father Phalen preached on the benefits of following the life of Christ in the Mysteries of the Rosary and conforming our lives to Christ through this form of prayer. The prayer group often meets for Rosary prayer and faith sharing.

Another group that invited Father Phalen to speak is the WINGS (Women in God's Spirit Group) at *St. John the Evangelist Parish* in *Hopkinton, Massachusetts*. Approximately 30 women heard his address on the apparitions of Mary. The group meets monthly to hear a talk and then share their experiences.

The mission staff of Holy Cross Family Ministries is regularly invited to speak to prayer groups eager to deepen their understanding of Mariology and family Rosary prayer. In 2006, the mission staff in the United States ministered at more than 75 events with more than 16,000 people in attendance.
