REFLECTION: Advent is a time for appreciating God’s creation in a special way. It is the season when we remember that his Son became a human child and began to experience creation as we do. Advent offers us many small opportunities to appreciate creation, in hidden ways that contain much joy. Simply making cards, gifts, or cookies together is in itself a source of joy.
PRAYER: Father, during this season when we think of family togetherness, we thank you for our family. Bless each one of us and keep us close. Help us to reach out to other family members and let them know our love for them. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
FAMILY DISCUSSION/ACTIVITY:
Monday: With your family, pray the Joyful Mysteries (click here for video) of the Rosary for peace in our countries. Celebrate with a favorite family dish for dinner.
Tuesday: Pray today for the Church that it will be enlightened by saints who gave so much of themselves for the good of others and for Christ.
Wednesday: Use time today to be alone with Christ in prayer and silence.
Thursday: Do some joyful Advent celebration today as your family prepares for Christmas. Try to attend a musical presentation or create your own for the family.
Friday: As Advent continues, try to do some reading regarding the liturgical season. See what materials are provided by your parish. Read something to the children.
Saturday: Pray today for Wisdom. Pray that Wisdom will be made known through Scripture, other people, or your heart.
PRAYER: Come! Lord Jesus, Come!
