                Readings Here

REFLECTION: At Emmaus, the two disciples recognized themselves as much as they recognized Jesus. They came to know that they could not run away but had to return to Jerusalem to continue the Lord’s work. Often our society leads us away from our true selves and replaces us with false ideas of what men and women are. It happens all the time on television, which can present unreal people.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, Your Spirit teaches us who we are and that we are made to be holy and loving persons. Help us to listen to your voice that speaks softly within our hearts.

FAMILY DISCUSSION/ACTIVITY:

Monday:  For a week be aware of television shows and commercials; look to see where and when they distort what human beings are.

Tuesday:  Take time today to reflect on the ways in which you can show Jesus’ presence to others. Make a list of a few ways and times that you can do this.

Wednesday:  Do something today for the needy. In this way you will have an opportunity to show Christ’s presence.

Thursday:  Pray the Mysteries of Light of the Rosary today with your family. Pray for peace in families.

Friday:  At the meal tonight, pass the bread. Ask each family member to break the bread and tell of one way they were able to bring peace into a situation.

Saturday:  Read and meditate today on this Sunday’s Gospel. (Luke 24:13-35)

PRAYER: Father, help us to become more aware of Your Presence here among us. Open our minds and hearts to the understanding of Your Word. Amen.
