Prayer of The Day Archives

“What eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and what has not entered the human heart, what God has prepared for those who love Him,” this God has revealed to us through the Spirit. (I Cor. 2:9-10.)

God of surprises, our Father, when I open my eyes in the morning I forget to thank you for the gift of sight and the beauty that you surprise me with each day. When I celebrate the holy mysteries at 6:30 AM the eyes of my heart are filled with wonder at the faithful gathered around your altar. When I turn on the desk-top computer at work I pause in its first glow to ask your blessing on all the tasks entrusted to me this day. When I gaze across the table at the faces of loved ones at dinner I thank you for them. When I close my eyes at night I thank you for allowing me to see your Christ in so many faces this day. Saint Lucy, blinded for love of you, has helped me to see your Son our Lord Jesus Christ more clearly this day. Thank you, Good Lord. Amen.
