Fr. Patrick Peyton and Antonio Infante
"Great advances have been made but the end is still not in sight. There is a world to win. Yet even when that world is won and the Family Rosary Crusade is finished, the Story of the Family Rosary will go on. For it is a living story -- a story of the prayer of a living family which will worship God and honour Mary for all eternity."

Prayer and petitions for our seminarians

Mexico is a large country with great cultural and historical diversity. Before the arrival of the Spanish, Mexico and its cultures had a great many customs and traditions that they celebrated at different times and for different reasons. With the Spanish came Catholicism and with it many traditions disappeared, mainly those that involved the gods of the various civilization. Today Mexico continues presenting that great cultural mosaic in customs and traditions in which all Mexicans celebrate with great happiness through various foods, drinks, dances, and dress. The various traditions also vary in each state of the country, according to each population, but with common elements. Monterrey, with a population of 3,550,114 inhabitants, is the main city in the north. This city is considered the Industrial Pole of Mexico, because about 10,000 industries of different types operate in the State, including those focused on the production of food, beer, tobacco, glass, cement, sheet metal, steel, chemical products, machinery and equipment, among others.

History of Ministry in Country

Family Rosary in Mexico started in July 2000. The objective is to promote family prayer through the praying of the Rosary. This is accomplished by sharing the word and experiences of faith, and listening to people to get to know the reality of their families. Also emphasized is promoting family unity and participation in the parishes, strengthening the faith, being with people and supporting them in their various situations, and channeling them toward institutions that can provide them with spiritual direction where necessary. The goal is to let them know about the ministry and for the whole country to have a commitment to prayer, using every means possible to evangelize.

Ministry Today

The ministry is fast moving and growing with each new day. One program is Vete de Pinta where the youth paint a wall of a rosary with messages on family prayer. More than 170,000 Rosaries were handed out last year to families. Pamphlets on praying the Rosary are distributed in parishes, schools, hospitals, at Christmas and Marian feasts days. Many programs are video taped and the tapes are used for educational purposes and for future programs. The staff has participated in organizing a living Rosary, and there is a music festival where many participate in and prizes are awarded. Fr. Daniel Panchot, CSC, and the staff are constantly busy creating new programs on how to teach the Rosary and bringing families together to pray.
