Flooding impacts Holy Cross in India
July 11, 2006
Your prayer is requested for the people of DahisirFamily Rosary International: India
This information comes to you from the Congregation of Holy Cross, Dahisar (W), Mumbai. Within a few days of this month, July '06, we have experienced very many difficult moments. God has been so gracious and protective in all these moments!
The metropolitan city experienced deluge on July 4, 2006. At 9:45 am the floods entered into the church hall while the school was on. There were 180 primary school students in the hall at that time. We sensed the danger by observing the rapid raise of the Dahisar river which is very close to the school (35 feet distance only) and collected the students to the Holy Cross residence. The hall, church and the school, were under water about 20 inches. We could not hold classes the following days.
The metropolitan city experienced heavy destruction.
7/11, Tuesday, today, between 6:15 pm to 6:45 pm there were serial bomb blasts in 7 places within and around the city. One of the stations, Borivil, which is closer to Dahisar station, is hit the worse and some of the parishioners of St. Louis Church were returning home in the same train. No loss from this parish yet, however, we are shocked and disturbed! One parishioner came in tears at 7:00 pm to inform us that she was coming to church to attend evening Mass (6:30 pm) but could not make it but God saved her!
We keep praying for the suffering known and unknown. May PEACE prevail and let good overcome evil. Thank you for your prayers, care and concern shown to us in various ways. God Bless
